How to Apply for Financial Aid?
To start the financial aid process, fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at StudentAid.gov. This application assesses your eligibility based on your financial circumstances. If you’re a new user, set up an FSA ID to access your information and sign the FAFSA.
Once WGU receives your FAFSA (which takes about 3–5 business days), you can follow these steps in the Financial Services section of the WGU Student Portal:

Entrance counseling (if using federal student loans): Complete this on StudentAid.gov to familiarize yourself with your rights and responsibilities as a borrower.

Master Promissory Note (MPN) (if using federal student loans): Sign this legal document electronically at StudentAid.gov to establish a loan repayment agreement.

Additional documentation (if necessary): You may need to provide further documents listed in the Financial Services section of your Student Portal.

Review and accept your financial aid offer: After completing your FAFSA, you’ll receive a personalized My Financial Aid Plan in your student portal. Go through the plan and either accept the suggested loan amount or request a custom amount that doesn’t exceed your eligibility. An offer letter detailing your loan and grant amounts will be sent to your WGU email, completing the financial aid process.
